Three Steps for a Fantastic Shave From Mondial Gentlemen's Barber
Step 1: Preparation
Preparing your face before shaving plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and comfortable shaving experience. By softening facial hair and opening the pores, face preparation helps the razor glide effortlessly, reducing the risk of nicks, cuts, and irritation.
Products such as our Antica Barberia pre-shave oil and creams provide an extra boost of preparation for a smooth shave.
Step 2: Shaving
Shaving with a clean razor and a warm face is a must if you want to get a close shave. To start, use a warm, wet towel to wipe your face. This will open up your pores and make it easier for your razor to get a close shave. After wiping your face, you can use a quality shaving cream and shaving brush to create a smooth lather between your razor and your skin.
Using a shaving brush will add another layer of pleasure to your shaving routine and also help you get a closer shave. The right shaving brush will lift your hairs, increasing the blade’s contact with your skin and at the same time thoroughly coat hair follicles with shaving cream to condition the hairs on your face and make them easier to cut.
The shaving soap or cream you choose should be able to create a rich lather. You can test this by taking a small amount of it in your hand and rubbing it between your fingers to create a lather. If you can’t feel any bubbles forming, the soap or cream is not going to be effective.
Our ancient recipe shaving creams or our Traditional Ancient Recipe shaving creams are a great choice for the job!
Step 3: Protection
After you have completed your shave, you might want to use aftershave in either a cream, lotion or fragrance form. Aftershave helps to reduce any irritation and closes your pores after the shave. It also helps to reduce the chances of getting ingrown hairs, redness, and razor burn. After you have used your aftershave, you can use a moisturizer to close your pores and keep your skin hydrated. This will prevent your skin from being dry, which can lead to irritation.
An aftershave from our collection of aftershave gels or aftershave splash lotions use a formulation based on Vitamin B5 for greater skin protection.
